Doug Beatty

Former George Fox University jumper Doug Beatty is now in hisfifth year at his alma mater as an assistant track and field coachunder head coach John Smith.

Beatty was a finalist in 2010 for Women's West Region AssistantCoach of the Year after performances that at one point saw two ofhis long jumpers ranked 2nd and 3rd in the country.

"He is one of the most athletic individuals I know, and is the besttechnician in the jumps I have ever coached," says Smith. "He hasalso demonstrated the ability to coach the jumps, and will continuethe success of our jumpers in the future."

Continuing in the tradition pioneered by University of Oregon'sBill Bowerman, Beatty is a tireless innovator.  He isco-developer of the real-time video analysis system ReflecTV(pronounced "reflective") along with GFU throws coach GregGottfried.  He is an also inventor of, or innovator for, adozen other athletic development technologies.  Inspired byAlberto Salazar's Nike House in Portland, he is the founder of theK3 High Altitude House in Newberg.

A native of Boise, Idaho, Beatty graduated from George Fox withdegrees in Computer Science (2004) and Mathematics (2005). He livesin Newberg and worked as a Research Scientist for Exelixis PlantSciences before joining Dow AgroSciences as an Analyst.
