Sharon Zemp enters her first season as the head coach of the George Fox women’s lacrosse program, becoming the fourth head coach in program history.
Zemp begins her time in Newberg following a head coaching career at Central Catholic High School from 2021-26. After inheriting a program that struggled to field a team, Zemp grew the roster to more than 40 athletes in less than two years. In her second season, she led the girls lacrosse team to its first-ever Silver Cup championship before guiding the Rams to their first-ever Gold Cup appearance in her fourth season at the helm. Her success on the field earned her 2024 OGLA Coach of the Year honors. During her tenure at Central Catholic, Zemp also spent two seasons coaching with club team Oregon Pride Lacrosse.
Along with her proven leadership, Zemp brings NSAM personal training and NCSF strength and conditioning certifications. She has owned her own personal training business for the past 15 years, working with numerous student-athletes to prepare them for collegiate athletics.
A native of Doylestown, Pa., Zemp played lacrosse and field hockey at Lock Haven University, graduating in 1997 as a three-time first-team All-American in lacrosse. She holds Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference records for goals in a season, goals in a career, points in a season and draw controls in a season. In addition, Zemp was a two-time national champion in field hockey and an All-American.
Sharon lives in Southwest Portland with her husband Alex and daughter, Nora, who attends Oregon State University and is an active member of the Army ROTC. In her off time you will usually find her attending church with her daughter, at the track training, or in the gym lifting.
