Box Score
PARKLAND, Wash. - Despite taking 13 shots
overall to only eight for the home team, the George Fox University
Bruins could not find the net on any of them and suffered their
second straight shutout, a 1-0 loss to the Pacific Lutheran
University Lutes, in a Northwest Conference women's soccer match
Saturday afternoon here at the PLU soccer field.
The Bruins held a 9-4 shot margin in the first half but it was
the Lutes who were able to get one home. Jordan Daniels
scored her first goal of the season, rising to head in Courtney
Walker's corner kick 34:29 into the match. On the other end of the
field, Daniels played a key role on defense as PLU limited the
Bruins to only two shots on goal all day, one by Jenny McKinsey and
one by Jamie Peressini, with goalkeeper Lauren
Chambard stopping both.
The Lutes had a great opportunity in the second minute of the
second half to add to their lead, but Bruin keeper Autumn Van Meter
dove to her left to slap away Walker's bullet from 18 yards
out. Van Meter finished with three saves.
George Fox (5-6, NWC 2-5) returns home to take on Yamhill County
rival Linfield College Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Pacific Lutheran
(3-8, NWC 2-5) hosts Willamette University Sunday at 12:00 noon.
