ORANGE, Calif. - After taking
two of the three doubles matches, the George Fox University Bruins
could not carry over that success in most of the singles matches
and wound up with a 6-3 loss to the Chapman University Panthers in
a non-conference men's tennis match Sunday evening here at
the Chapman courts.
The Bruins dropped the No. 1 doubles match in a close one, Juan
and Pedro Munoz falling 9-7 to the Panthers' Christian Isip
and Dylan Tevlin. The visitors rebounded with a 9-7 victory
at No. 2 as Scott Barnett and Nick
Jenness knocked off Leland Buttle and Luciano Rodriguez,
and went ahead 2-1 when Luke Pritchard and Matthew Gardner
prevailed over Alex Klein and Tyler McClusker 8-4 at No. 3.
The only victory the Bruins could manage in singles, however,
was a 6-3, 6-3 win by Juan Munoz over Buttle at No. 3. The
Panthers pulled out the match by winning the other five singles as
