TACOMA, Wash. – After being blanked 7-0
in their last match against NCAA Division I foe Portland State
University, the George Fox University Bruins found it a bit more
comfortable on their own level Saturday night here at the UPS
Tennis Pavilion as they thumped the University of Puget Sound
Loggers 8-1 in Northwest Conference men' tennis action.
The only loss for the Bruins came in the first set of the match
as Shawn Aldrich and David Munoz dropped a close one 8-6 to the
Loggers' Michael Cutter and Ben Miller. However, they
wasted little time getting back on track as Peter Brown and Justin
McClain conquered George Murphy and John Stevens 8-2 at No. 2, and
Preston Mann and Drew Milton mastered Abe Noyes and Jake Peterson
8-1 at No. 3.
The Bruins breezed through each of the singles matches in
straight sets. Mann manhandled Miller 6-4, 6-1 at No. 1;
Aldrich reversed those scores with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Cutter at
No. 2; McClain mauled Murphy 6-1, 6-0 at No.3; Milton stuffed
Stevens 6-0, 6-1 at No. 4; Munoz cut out Noyes 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5;
and Pax Magaway topped Michael Tieu 6-3, 6-3 at No. 6.
