Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - A stout George Fox
University defense allowed only five shots in the game and just two
on goal to the Northwest Christian University Beacons, but the
Bruins' offense could not punch through a needed goal as the
teams settled for a 0-0 double-overtime tie in a non-conference
women's soccer match Thursday night here at Mike Kelly
Field.
Ally Swanson, in her first collegiate start at goalkeeper, made
saves on both of the Beacons' shots that would have gone in
the net and went the distance to earn the deadlock. The
Bruins' defensive line, anchored by Corin Beaudry, Hannah
Smith and Haley Downey, who likewise played all of
the game's 110 minutes, kept the Beacons at a distance and
allowed them only three other off-target shots.
Northwest Christian keeper Kristen Fulbright, who played club
ball with Swanson, faced 23 George Fox shots, 11 of them on goal,
and stopped them all for her second shutout in three games.
Bruin newcomers Ashley Baugh and Michelle Young had most of the
visitors' opportunities with five shots apiece, Baugh with
three of them on goal, but Swanson was able to stymie every
once.
George Fox held a 6-4 edge in corner kick chances, while
Northwest Christian committed 14 fouls to just eight for the
Bruins.
