Box Score PARKLAND, Wash. – Hannah
Harder gave the George Fox University Bruins a quick lead
just over 11 minutes into the game, but the Pacific Lutheran
University Lutes answered with three scores to prevent any upset
with a 3-1 victory in Northwest Conference women's soccer
Saturday afternoon here at PLU's East Field.
Harder notched her second score of the season from right in
front of the goal at the 11:14 mark off a corner kick pass from
Michelle Young. That proved to be one of only three shot
attempts by the Bruins in the game and one of two on goal, all in
the first half as the PLU defense tightened down. The Lutes
out-shot the Bruins 15-0 in the second half and finished the match
with a 21-3 shot advantage.
PLU tied it at 30:46 when Kristi D'Alessandro took a
pass from Kaylie Rozell on the right side of the field and
dropped it into the net for her first goal of the season. That 1-1
score stood until early in the second half when Alex Murray bumped
the ball in from five yards out off a pass from Lena Moreno from
the right corner at the 47:55 mark.
Emma Wayerski gave PLU some insurance a little over five minutes
from the end. She took three consecutive shots, the first two
blocked by defenders, before her third attempt found its way into
the net at 84:24.
Alyssa Montero kept the Bruins close by making five saves,
boosting her league-leading total to 119. Marisa Gonzalez and
Takara Mitsui split time in the net for the Lutes, Gonzalez making
the only save needed and Mitsui getting the win in the second
half.
