Box Score

TACOMA, Wash. – After nearly pulling off a first-set upset, the George Fox University Bruins were hit with some sizzling offense by the University of Puget Sound that carried the 15th-ranked Loggers to a 3-0 win (29-27, 25-14, 25-17) over the Bruins in Northwest Conference women's volleyball action Saturday night here at Memorial Fieldhouse.

George Fox rallied from an early eight-point deficit to force a long first set, but Puget Sound responded by hitting .276 in the second set and .357 in the third.  The Loggers finished the match with a .277 hitting percentage (41 kills, 13 errors, 101 attempts) to .074 (37 kills, 28 errors, 121 attempts) for the Bruins.

An 8-0 run with Christina Chun serving early in the second set put the Loggers ahead 13-4, and the Bruins got no closer than seven points the rest of the way.  The Loggers closed the set with three straight points, Nicolette Reynaud getting two blocks (with one assist by Jenni Brehove) in that run.

George Fox built a quick 3-1 lead in the third set on kills by Campbell, Tiffany Burk, and Erin Sprowls, but UPS responded with a 7-0 run with Brehove serving to take control at 8-3.  The teams effectively traded points over the middle of the match, the Bruins twice closing within three before the Loggers extended their lead to 21-14 on an ace by Edwards.  The Bruins then scored three unanswered points, two of them kills by Burk, before the Loggers secured the  set and match with a 4-0 run of their own, including two winners by Kristen Lane.
