Box Score SPOKANE, Wash. --- George Fox University's women's volleyball team started its five game road trip Friday night, as the Bruins took on Whitworth University.
The Bruins (2-15, 1-6 NWC) fell to the Pirates (12-5, 5-2 NWC) 19-25, 17-25, 23-25
In the opening set, the Bruins hit .171 as a team and were led by Kylee Adderson and Camille Kassebaum, who both tallied three kills.
The second set was dominated by the Pirates, as they jumped out to a 15-4 lead. Erin Campbell became the kill leader for the Bruins in the match recording six on 22 attempts.
The third set proved to be the closest of the night as both teams battled back and forth trading points. After trailing early in the set, the Bruins clawed their way back into the game and forced a timeout after getting within one, 23-24. The timeout proved to help the Pirates, as they came out of it and finished the game off with a kill to take the match.
Campbell led the Bruins with 10 kills on the night with a .108 hitting percentage. Payton Shrum finished the night with 19 assists.
The Bruins out-blocked the Pirates 4.0-3.0.
The Bruins won't wait long to play again as they head to Whitman College tomorrow night (Oct. 11) at 5:00 p.m.
