Box Score MCMINNVILLE, Ore. --- George Fox University's volleyball team didn't have to travel too far Saturday night, as it took the Bruins just 30 minutes to get to Linfield College to take on the Wildcats in a Northwest Conference match.
The Wildcats (7-8, 6-4 NWC) defeated the Bruins (3-17, 2-8 NWC) in a tight four-set match, 25-16, 33-31, 19-25, 25-19.
Erin Sprowls and Erin Campbell led the Bruins as they were the only players to record double-digit kills. Sprowls finished the match hitting .371, she was the dig team leader with 18.
The Wildcats took the first set holding the Bruins to 16 points, but the second set proved to be the most exciting as it went past the 25 point requirement. It started after both teams traded points back and forth and created the 15th tie of the set at 24-24. The 16th tie came at 25-25, as both teams were unwilling to let the set end. The set was finally broken up as the Wildcats edged the Bruins, but it wasn't before the set was tied 21 times.
The Bruins came out and responded in the third taking a big lead at 21-12. The Wildcats would spark a rally and cut the deficit to four, but the Bruins finished off the set in a dominating fashion.
For the second straight game, the Bruins out-blocked their opponent 9-5.
