MCMINNVILLE, Ore. --- The visiting Bruins fell to the Linfield Wildcats on Saturday, 4-1.
The Wildcats started quickly, as Ellie Schmidt broke away in the fifth minute and slipped a shot past Bruins keeper Ally Swanson. By half, Linfield would add two more goals: Emily Fellows headed Emma Vukic's cross in the 14th minute, and Fellows provided the assist on Schmidt's second goal just before half.
At half, Morgan Hansen took over goalkeeping duties from the resolute Swanson, who saved 12 of the Wildcats' 21 first-half shots. Hansen would tally three saves of her own in the quieter second half.
The Bruins pulled back a goal in the 65th minute, when Sarah Tuemmler dropped in a perfectly weighted pass to Kenna Meinhart, who smashed it in. Meinhart carried the Bruins offensively, leading the score sheet with two shots on goal.
Becca Allen also added a shot on goal, and the Bruins forced Wildcats keeper Laurel Huth into a pair of saves.
In the 86th minute, Schmidt finished her hat trick, winning a loose ball and finishing another unassisted shot from the right side of the box to give Linfield the 4-1 victory.
Linfield improves to 11-4-1 in conference and remains third in the standings. George Fox falls to 4-10-2 in conference and holds the eighth position ahead of last-place Lewis & Clark.
