Box Score WALLA WALLA, Wash. --- George Fox University's women's soccer team was led by Kacie Morgan Friday afternoon, as the Bruins fell to the Missionaries of Whitman College, 2-1.
The Bruins defense was tested early in the first period after the Missionaries fired off 10 shots. Ally Swanson used her busy first period to record five four saves. The first goal of the game came from WC's Danielle Wieck with a shot that deflected off a Bruin defender.
Morgan responded for the Bruins in the 53rd minute when she made a nifty move around a couple of defenders with small and precise touches. She then struck the ball well and knotted up the match with her first goal of the season.
The Missionaries wouldn't go down without a fight scoring the game-winner in the 79th minute off of a corner kick.
Six different players recorded one shot in the match.
Whitman improves to 9-7-4 on the season and 7-5-4 in conference play, while the Bruins fall to 3-13-3 and 3-11-1 in the Northwest Conference.
George Fox will close out its season against Whitworth on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 11:00 a.m.
