Box Score NEWBERG, Ore. --- George Fox University's women's volleyball team hosted its second to last home game Friday night, as the Bruins took on the Pirates of Whitworth University.
The Pirates entered the match as the number two team in the Northwest Conference standings, and have won their last eight games in a row. They continued their streak with a three-set sweep over the Bruins, 25-20, 25-20, and 25-14.
The Bruins led the Pirates early in the opening set, but a late rally by Whitworth gave the Pirates the edge to take the first set. Whitworth went in to the second and third set with early leads keeping the Bruins at a distance. George Fox wouldn't go down without a fight chipping away at the score, but the tough hitting Pirates swept the Bruins.
Both Erin Campbell and Kylee Adderson finished the night with seven kills and led the Bruins.
The Pirates improve to 20-5 and 13-2 in the NWC. George Fox falls to 4-21 overall and 3-12 in conference play.
The Bruins will host Whitman tomorrow night when the Bruins will honor Campbell and Adderson for senior night. The game will start at 6:00 p.m. in Wheeler Sports Center.
