Box Score THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. --- No. 17-ranked George Fox University's women's basketball team started its two game road trip with success Friday night, as the Bruins defeated California Lutheran University, 63-52.
The undefeated Bruins move to 6-0 on the season and were led by Justine Benner on the night, who went 6-for-14 from the floor with a total of 20 points. She was two rebounds shy of a double-double with eight boards.
George Fox jumped out to a quick 10 point lead in the opening minutes after Benner and Jami Morris both drained a three. The Regals cut the lead to three at the 6:49 mark, but that would be the closest they would get, as the Bruins went into the half up, 35-29.
The Bruins continued their dominance in the second half keeping the Regals at an arm's length with a 10 point lead with 12 minutes left on the clock. The Regals started to march back and chipped the lead to two points after hitting four straight points. Benner responded for the Bruins with a jumper and Dacia Heckendorf knocked down the three ball to give the Bruins a seven point lead with 2:42 left.
George Fox finished its night on the charity stripe going 5-for-6 to end the game and cruise to an 11 point victory.
Lauren Codling scored 12 points, while Sammy Naluai was the other Bruin in double-digits adding 11. Both players recorded seven rebounds on the night.
The Bruins forced 17 Regal' turnovers.
