NEWBERG, Ore. --- The George Fox women's soccer team hosted Linfield College on Sunday afternoon, and although the score didn't reflect how well the Bruins played against the Wildcats, there was a lot of positives to take away from the game.
Recap:
In the start of the first period, the Bruins gained control of the ball and kept most of the possession going forward. A couple of close wide shots were fired off from several Bruins, but nothing that would force 'Cats goalkeeper Sarah Bailey to record a save. The Wildcats responded after the early push from the Bruins and tried to get past the pesky Bruins' back line, but were unsuccessful on many runs due to the excellent play of Michelle Young. The 'Cats drew a foul well outside the box and Regan Cox was responsible for the free kick. Cox sent a ball into the box that found the head of Shelby DeRocher to record the first goal in the game. The Bruins went into the half trailing the Wildcats, 1-0. In the start of the second half, the Bruins continued to pour it on the Wildcats, but each run just came up short. In the 82nd minute, Wildcat' Emma Vukic recorded her sixth goal of the season to secure the victory for Linfield.
Top Performers:
Savannah Moisan led the Bruins in shots with four, while Becca Allen recorded three shots and two on frame. Morgan Bars played all 90 minutes in goal for the Bruins and tallied five saves.
