NEWBERG, Ore. --- The George Fox women's volleyball team hosted Lewis & Clark College for a Northwest Conference match-up. The Bruins were in full force Friday night, but the Pioneers were able to answer taking the match, 3-1.

Recap:
It was an even opening set, as both teams combined for nine ties and seven lead changes. The Bruins were able to jump out to a 19-15 lead after six-straight points, but the Pioneers evened the set up at 24-24. LCC finished the set with two-straight points to take the opening set, 26-24. Set two was a little different as the Bruins jumped out to a comfy 14-8 lead. The Pioneers found some wiggle room and climbed back into the set after scoring five-straight points, but that wouldn't faze the Bruins as they continued to score points off big kills. Delaney Cruz evened that match up with a huge kill, giving the Bruins the second set, 25-22.

The Pioneers bounced back in the third set and held a 16-10 lead over the Bruins, but that lead wouldn't hold as another Bruin rally brought the set within two, 17-19. It seemed as if George Fox would rally back and take set three, but the Pioneers scored off a couple of unforced errors to take a 2-1 advantage.

The fourth and final set was thrilling for both teams. A total of 12 ties were recorded in the final set, and the lead changed hands eight times. Midway through the fourth it seemed as if both teams would trade points back and forth all the way until the end, but the Bruins went on a three point run to take a 20-17 lead. Lewis and Clark still had some fuel in the tank, as it tied the set up at 22-22. Two big kills lifted the Pioneers in the end to win the set and the match.

Top Performers:
Cassidy Scott led the Bruins with a hitting percentage of .316 and totaled seven kills. Payton Shrum recorded 28 assists on her night, and recorded two kills on three attempts. She also tallied nine digs. The Bruins managed to record 23 blocks on the night, while the Pioneers recorded five.
