NEWBERG, Ore. --- Two late second half goals lifted the women's soccer team over Whitworth University in a thrilling match, Saturday afternoon.
Recap:
It was the Pirates who were the first to get on the board after Leah Corra set up Lindsey Foster for the first and only goal of the first half. The Pirates scored in the 22nd minute, but the Bruins were able to out-shoot the Pirates 10-7 in the first half. Whitworth went into intermission up, 1-0.
In the start of the second half, the Bruins found new ground and used momentum to pour on shot after shot. A total of 15 shots were recorded for the Bruins, but the most important one came in the 71st minute when Emma Weme trapped a ball in the box and sent in the equalizer. Seven minutes later, the Bruins were on the attack again and a shot that bounced back outside of the box and found the foot of Brette Dodson, who curved in a perfect ball for the game winner.
Top Performers:
Weme and Dodson provided the scoring while Savannah Moisan took seven shots on the day and Hannah Harder contributed with four. The Bruins out-shot the Pirates 25 to 12 in the match, and Morgan Bars had six saves while playing all 90 minutes in the goal for the Bruins.
What It Means:
With the win, the Bruins improve to 4-8-2 on the season and 2-7-1 in the Northwest Conference. Whitworth falls to 5-8-1 overall and 3-6-1 in the NWC.

The Bruins will host Whitman on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
