NEWBERG, Ore. --- After a 2-1 victory over Whitworth on Saturday afternoon, the Bruins used that momentum on Sunday, capturing the same result with a 2-1 win over Whitman.

Recap:
Setting the tone was an understatement for the Bruins in the first period, as they made their offensive presence well known in the opening minutes. A couple of early shots were gathered by Whitman's goalkeeper, but in the 39th minute Sarah Tuemmler put her laces through it and found the back of the net, giving the Bruins a 1-0 advantage. Time was winding down and it seemed that the 1-0 lead would hold going into half, but the Bruins made a late run with 25 seconds left in the half. Ashley Behrens was able to be at the right place at the right time and crushed a ball into the back of the net to beat the buzzer. Her goal came in the 45th minute.

The Bruins went into the half up, 2-0.

The second half wasn't as exhilarating as both teams settled in and went back-and-forth with possession. The Bruins managed to keep the Missionaries scoreless until the 83rd minute when a wonderful cross from Olivia Thomson found Lena de Guzman, who scored the only goal of the match for the Missionaries. The Bruins ended the game taking seven less shots than their opponent, but were selective in their shot choices keeping the ball in frame six times.

Top Performers:
Tuemmler and Behrens were the heroes of the match, as each recorded a goal and two shots. Morgan Bars played 52:49 minutes in the net, recording seven saves, while Kelsey Kammerzell made her first appearance of the season recording 37:11 minutes between the sticks. Kammerzell earned the win and is now 1-0 in her very young career. Michelle Young continues to be a force the Bruins. Her leadership on defense and mechanics always make her a huge factor in these types of games.

What It Means:
The Bruins completed the sweep against the Whits at home and improve to 5-8-2 on the season and 3-7-1 in the Northwest Conference.

What Comes Next:
The Bruins will host Lewis & Clark on Saturday, October 24 at 12:00 p.m.
