NEWBERG, Ore. --- The Bruins lost a gritty game in overtime to visiting Lewis & Clark on Saturday afternoon, 2-1. Though the Bruins took a second-half lead on Savannah Moisan's fifth goal of the season, the Pioneers drew even on a penalty kick and grabbed the victory in overtime.

Moisan put in her usual solid shift leading the Bruins' line, and she bagged her team-leading fifth goal in the 51st minute. Receiving Jayli Miyomoto's pass, Moisan showed good technique in the box before slotting her shot away in the corner.
The Bruin defense was rock-solid through the game's first hour. Though the Pioneers were clever offensively, the Bruins did well to stay compact and shift pressure to the wings. Keeper Morgan Bars turned away the shots that found their way through, collecting five saves.
Unfortunately, in the 67th minute, the Bruins' Michelle Young was sent off for a hard challenge in the box, and Karley Pate converted the spot kick to equalize. The Pioneers came close towards the end of regulation -- Anna Thorndike hit the post -- but the game continued into extra time.
Bars, in the first few minutes of extra time, made two excellent saves to keep the score even. Then, in the 98th minute, Lauren Swinney was called for a hand ball in the box and another penalty kick was awarded. This time, Bars was more than equal to the challenge, pushing Megan Ratfield's penalty around the post. The ball was still in play and the Pioneers were able to slot the ball in the box and Thorndike scored the game-winner for the Pioneers in the 98th minute.
What Comes Next:
The Bruins (5-9-2, 3-8-1 NWC) will travel to Tacoma tomorrow for a match-up against the No. 1 team in the NWC standings in the Lutes of Pacific Lutheran.
