SANTA CRUZ, Calif. --- The No. 2-ranked George Fox women's basketball team headed down to California this weekend to compete in the Thanksgiving Tournament hosted by UC-Santa Cruz, as the Bruins defeated the Bulldogs of Redlands, 62-55.

Recap:
The Bruins used a 21-13 second quarter to go into the half up, 37-24. It all started in the early going, as the Bruins jumped out to a nice lead, and never relinquished it the entire 40 minutes of play. The Bulldogs did manage to tie the game up twice in the first quarter, but that would be the closest Redlands would get to overcome the stingy Bruins.  The bench seemed to play a huge factor on the night for George Fox, as 24 of its points came from the reserves. The most notable name off the bench was Anjenae Torregano, who in her first season with the Bruins put up a career-high 19 points on the night.

The Bulldogs tried to chip away at the lead in the second half, but with the Bruins shooting 40 percent from the field, the task proved to be too tough.

Top Performers:
As mentioned above, Torregano was the player of the game with 19 points in 25 minutes of play. She shot 7-of-10 from the field and grabbed five rebounds. Justine Benner continues to impress early on for the Bruins, as she scored 16 on the night and was one rebound shy of a double-double. Sophomore Kaitlin Jamieson also had a noteworthy night with 11 points, two assists, one block and one steal.

What It Means:
With the win, the Bruins open up their season at 3-0 and still remain No. 2 in the NCAA Div. III USA Today Coaches' Poll.

What Comes Next:
The Bruins will play the host team (UCSC) tomorrow on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 5:00 p.m. at the UCSC West Field House.
