CLAREMONT, Calif. --- It came down to the wire on Saturday, but the No. 3-ranked women's basketball team used a 22-4 third quarter to come back from a 26 point deficit at the half to beat the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, 64-63.

Recap:
It wasn't the start the Bruins were looking for in the first two quarters, as the Athenas were on fire. They shot 62.1 percent from the floor and 70 percent from the 3-point line. The Bruins had a rough time putting the ball in the basket, as they shot 22.6 percent from the field and seven percent from the 3-point line (1-14). The Athenas went into the break with a comfortable 26 point lead, 48-22.

Everything changed in the third quarter, as the Bruins started to chip away at the 26 point advantage. The Bruins got within nine after scoring 16 straight points. In fact, the Bruins almost kept the Athenas scoreless for the entire 10 minutes in the third. It wasn't until the 1:20 mark that the Athenas got on the board.

With momentum on the Bruins side and newfound life in the game, the Bruins continued to cut away at the deficit. It was still a tough task, but Kaitlin Jamieson came to play collecting a rebound and knocking down two layups to put the Bruins down by five, 62-57. A huge three by Nicole Blizzard 30 seconds later put the game within one possession, 62-60. The Bruins tied the score up with 1:20 left in the game, and Kaycee Creech made the go-ahead layup 25 seconds later to give the Bruins their first lead of the game. It came down to the free throw line as the Athenas had a chance to tie the game, but a second missed free throw gave the Bruins a one point victory.
