NEWBERG, Ore. --- The No. 2/4-ranked women's basketball team opened up Northwest Conference play Friday night, as the Bruins thumped the Loggers, 92-66.

Recap:
The Bruins were vivacious in the first quarter using their smothering defense to hold the Loggers to five points. After jumping out to a 14-5 lead, the Bruins went on a scoring spree, increasing that lead to 28 points, 33-5, to end the first quarter. The Bruins settled down in the second quarter, but the Loggers were still unable to chip away at the lead as George Fox went into the half up by 28, 54-26.

After building a soft cushion going into the second half, the Bruins continued to keep the Loggers at a 28 point deficit. The Bruins again went on another huge run, taking the lead up to 36 --- the largest of the game.

Top Performers:
Justine Benner led the Bruins with 15 points, but Kimberly Frost was the spark plug for the Bruins scoring a career-high 14 points and adding three assists and four steals to her night. Tavin Headings had a perfect night going 4-4 and 3-3 from the 3-point line with a career-high 11 points. Kaycee Creech was phenomenal on defense having a team-high and career-high six steals. She also recorded 10 points.

What It Means:
The Bruins open up NWC play 1-0 and are 5-0 on the season. They now hold a 16-1 record over the Loggers in the last eight seasons of play.

What Comes Next:
The Bruins will continue NWC play on Saturday on the road against the Boxers of Pacific at 4:00 p.m.
