MCMINNVILLE, Ore. --- Tim Roome-Trout snagged his first career win in the #6 singles match as the Bruins took down Linfield on Sunday afternoon, 7-2. Roome-Trout's 6-2, 6-3 capped off a banner day for the Bruins, who played overwhelming tennis through the singles matches.
Spencer Watanabe, in the #1 singles, made short work of Ben McNair, 6-2, 6-0, showing little fatigue after his heroics the day before. Teammate Chris Lilley had an even easier go in the #2 doubles, dispatching Linfield's Kelsey Rosborough 6-1, 6-0.
Nick Ekern, elevated on Sunday to the #3 match, also impressed, dropping just two games in his 6-2, 6-0 victory. Also in an unusually high role, Michell Miyashiro did well against Lukas Kleinman, winning 6-4, 6-1 in the #4 match.
Tristen Lerma, despite dropping the Bruins' only loss, showed undeniable talent in his 6-4, 6-0 loss in the #5 match.
The doubles matches proved troublesome for George Fox, but the Bruins still escaped with two victories. Lilley and Chace Stalcup took the first 8-6, combining well. Spencer Watanabe, playing with Miyashiro in doubles for the first time this season, took the #2 doubles 8-5. Tristen Lerma and Roome-Trout, narrowly lost the #3 match, 8-6, their comeback stopped just short.
The Bruins jump to 13-6 on the season ahead of their trip on Saturday to California-Santa Cruz.
