SPOKANE, Wash. --- Savannah Moisan's third goal of the season highlighted a frustrating trip to Whitworth on Saturday. Unable to find a solid foothold, the Bruins dropped behind 2-0 at halftime and couldn't quite recover, finishing the day with a 4-1 loss. The final score, though, suggests a languor that the Bruins never displayed: they fired off nine shots and produced threatening chances.

Recap:
Whitworth refused to offer the Bruins much time to settle in. Tiara Pajimola fired off a shot just seconds into the match, which an alert Ally Swanson saved. Swanson, though, could do nothing minutes later, when the ball fell to Pajimola again, who curled an unreachable ball beyond the Bruins' keeper and into the net.

Down 1-0, the Bruins looked like they'd soon equalize. In the 18th minute, Hannah Harder blazed a shot just over the bar, and Whitworth keeper Andrea Stump made a fine save to keep out another Harder shot soon after. As halftime loomed, it looked like the Bruins would enter halftime with just a 1-0 deficit, but Brooke Morrow, who earlier received a caution card, pounced on a half-opportunity and smashed in the Pirates' second goal.

Suddenly trailing by two, the Bruins came out on the front foot. Becca Allen's shot sailed just beyond the post, and Swanson did well to keep the game in reach, gathering in a headed effort from Morgan Howe. Hope for George Fox dimmed, though, when Whitworth strung together passes from Megan McCart and Dallas Nelson that found McKenzie Hemp, who made the score 3-0.

The Bruins had a glimmer in the 81st minute, when Moisan bagged her third goal of the season, but Whitworth's Leah Corra jumped on Howe's pass to make the final score 4-1.

Top Performers:
Emma Weme and Harder led the Bruins with two shots apiece. Swanson finished with three saves.

What Comes Next:
The loss depresses the Bruins' overall record to 3-2-1 and evens their record in the Northwest Conference to 1-1-0. They can push their NWC line back over .500 tomorrow at Whitman.
