SPOKANE, Wash. --- The George Fox women's volleyball team closed out their Washington conference road trip Saturday night, as the Bruins fell to Whitworth University, 3-0.

Recap:
It was a very competitive match Saturday night, as two of the three sets went well over the 25 point regulation. The Bruins kept up with the top conference team in the opening set, but fell 18-25. In the second set, the Bruins jumped out to a 5-0 lead and held onto the lead until the Pirates tied it up at 12-12. After the first tie of the set both teams combined for eight more ties before the Pirates pulled away for a 28-26 victory. The Bruins continued to show adversity and perseverance, as the same thing happened again in the third and final set. This time both teams would tie an unprecedented amount 20 times. The Bruins would not back down as fans watched the teams go all the way to 30 points. The Pirates came out the other end, though, and clinched the match with a 33-31 third set victory.

Top Performers:
Danyle Dupray led the Bruins with a hitting percentage of .294, recording 12 kills on the night. Dupray also managed 19 digs. Delaney Cruz was the kill leader for the Bruins with 14. Payton Shrum continued to add to her impressive four year career with 38 assists. Her career total is now at 2,612 assists and she is 69 away from tying Stacy Wright for sixth place on the All-Time list.

What Comes Next:
The Bruins will head back home and host their next two games. They play Puget Sound on Friday, October 2 at 7:00 p.m., and Pacific Lutheran on Saturday, October 3 at 7:00 p.m.
