NEWBERG, Ore. --- It was a beautiful but windy day at the Austin Sports Complex, Sunday afternoon, as the Bruins fell 1-0 against the Lutes of Pacific Lutheran University in a very competitive match.
Recap:
The Lutes got off to a quick start, scoring in the fourth minute of the game when Jamie Hoffman found Machaela Graddy in the middle of the box. Graddy, who leads the Northwest Conference in goals scored netted her fifth of the season as it just sailed by Bruin' keeper Morgan Bars. The Bruins locked in after that goal led by senior defender Michelle Young, who took charge of the back line. The Lutes managed to record 18 shots in the game to the Bruins 11, but only seven were on goal. Young led the Bruins in the backfield making sure that each shot was pressured or blocked by the Bruins before it got into Bar's territory. The Bruins used the second period to really get after the Lutes. With some great chances towards the end of the game, Savannah Moisan put a foot on a ball that just sailed wide.
Top Performers:
Both Becca Allen and Moisan led the offensive charge for the Bruins with four shots in the game. Bars played all 90 minutes for the Bruins and recorded a total of six saves.
What It means:
