CLAREMONT, Calif. --- The George Fox women's volleyball team played their first game in the Pacific Coast Classic, Thursday afternoon, as the Bruins fell to Whittier College, 3-1.
Recap:
It was a tough start for George Fox, losing the first set 25-14, sparked by a six point run in the middle of the set by the Poets. Although the Bruins returned the favor in the second set led by the aggressive attack of sophomore outside hitter Delaney Cruz. The Poets finished the match off by taking the third and fourth set.
Top Performers:
Cruz, who finished the night with a team-leading 15 kills, would achieve five of her 15 kills in the second set alone. Middle blocker Erin Dellinger also contributed an impressively versatile stat-line in the set despite finding some resting time in the middle of the set, recording at least one block, serve, kill and assist. Dellinger finished with a team-leading .312 kill percentage. Senior Setter Payton Shrum led the team in assists with 35, she now has 2,294 in her career and is 37 away from taking 7th on the All-Time list.
What it Means:
The Bruins fall to 0-2 on the season, but will look to bounce back in the rest of the PCC Tournament. The Poets improve to 3-0 on the season.

The Bruins play Colby-Sawyer later today in the tournament.
