NEWBERG, Ore. --- Kaitlin Jamieson led the No. 2-ranked Bruins over Whitworth on Saturday, as the sophomore scored a career-high 27 points and 10 rebounds in the 82-72 victory.

Recap:
It was all Jamieson in the first quarter as she put up six straight points for the Bruins to take a two point lead, 9-7, at the 5:41 mark. The Pirates weren't backing down against the top-ranked team, and traded baskets back-and-forth for the entire first quarter. After the fourth tie of the game at the 9:50 mark in the second quarter, the Bruins took over, going on a 12-3 run to jump out to a seven point margin, 28-21. The Pirates managed to bring the game within two moments later, but that didn't scare the Bruins as they pushed the lead back to five to close the first half, 39-34.

The score was tied four times in the first half with the lead changing hands twice. Jamieson went into the break with 14 points.

The start of the second half was completely different than the first, as George Fox went on a tear, boosting its lead to 11 after four minutes of play in the third quarter, 52-41. The Pirates showed some resiliency, though, and cut the deficit to four at the 3:08 mark, 52-48, but the Bruins responded closing out the quarter with six straight points, 61-50.

The Bruins were more consistent in the final quarter, as they came out and scored seven straight points. The lead stayed at a comfortable margin for the remainder of the game, as the Bruins finished the game on the free throw line.
