NEWBERG, Ore. --- The George Fox women's volleyball team played their final non-conference match of the season against the Lions of Multnomah University, Tuesday night, as the Bruins fell in a close three-set match, 3-0.

Recap:
The Lions set the tone early, jumping out to an 11-4 lead, but the Bruins responded with a 9-2 run to tie the set up at 13-13. The Lions found room late in the first set with a couple of runs to take a 23-20 lead. Multnomah went on to win the first set, 25-20.

In set two, both teams evened things up four times in the early going. After the fourth tie at 4-4, the Lions rallied four straight points to take an 8-4 advantage. The Bruins looked poised to take the second set out-hitting the Lions .312 to .303. A couple of late unforced errors gave the Lions the advantage, as they won the second set, 25-17.

The Bruins took control of the third set from the second the whistle blew. George Fox went on to take its largest lead of the match at 20-15 after a kill by Sarah Davies and a couple of errors by the Lions. Rachel Ward delivered the next kill with some force, and the Bruins put the Lions on their heels. The Lions marched a rally, scoring the next seven points to regain the set at 24-21. A kill by Danyle Dupray put the Bruins back into the set at 24-22, and that points was followed by an error by the Lion. Down by one, the Bruins looked to close the gap, but a kill by the Lions ended the match with a 25-23 victory.

Top Performers:
Erin Sprowls led the Bruins with 10 kills on the night, hitting .381, which was the match-high with double digit kills between both teams. Dupray led the Bruins with 16 digs, while Kelsea Meyers was right behind with 14.

What Comes Next:
The Bruins will get back to their Northwest Conference schedule Friday, Oct. 21 against Lewis & Clark College at 7p.m.
