NEWBERG, Ore. --- The No. 8-ranked George Fox women's basketball team hosted the Eagles of Northwest University, Saturday night, as the Bruins beat the Eagles, 85-54.

Recap:
Kimberly Frost gave the Bruins a boost in the opening minutes, as the senior guard only needed 14 seconds off the game clock to open up the scoring. After a quick response by the Eagles, the scoring came to a screeching halt. Fans watched as only two baskets were scored in the next three minutes. Haile Hartney ended the drought for the Bruins at the 6:43 mark after making a nice move in the paint. With time winding down in the first, Hartney brought the Bruins within one at 9-7, and Haley Strowbridge evened up the score at 9-9 on a layup. Emily Spencer helped the Bruins retake the lead at the 3:14 mark when the freshman drained a three to put the Bruins up by one, 12-11. The Bruins held that lead for the remainder of the game, and finished the first quarter on a 11-2 run to take a 10 point advantage, 23-13.

The second quarter was all George Fox, as the top-ranked team extended its lead to 16 on an Emily Spencer layup, 30-14. The Bruins closed out the first half with a 23 point lead at 47-24. George Fox shot 50 percent from the field and 35.7 percent from the 3-point line at the break.

In the start of the third, senior Kaycee Creech caught fire from beyond the arc. Creech went 3-for-3 from outside, putting the Bruins up by 28 at the 6:06 mark, 60-32. The game slowed down quite a bit after Creech's performance, as both teams settled in defensively. The Bruins finished the third quarter with a 68-43 lead.

The Bruins' freshman class led the way in final quarter, as Ashley-Alohi Kiko took over control at the point guard position. Hartney and Kylin Collman were the benefactors from Kiko, helping the Bruins reach over 80 points for the second consecutive game.

George Fox finished the game shooting 41.4 percent from the field, while holding the Eagles to a 26.5 percent clip. The Bruins also forced 25 turnovers and came away with 15 steals on the night.

Top Performers:
Frost and Hartney were the only two players to score in double figures. The pair both recorded 10 points on the night. Frost was two assists shy of a double-double, scoring 10 points and dishing a new career-high eight assists. Kaitlin Jamieson recorded her first 10 rebound game of the season, while adding six points to her performance. It was an all-around effort, though, as 15 players scored at least one point for the Bruins.

What It Means:
With the win, the Bruins improve to 2-0 on the season.

What Comes Next:
