SPOKANE, Wash. --- The George Fox men's tennis team finished their two day road trip against Whitworth on Sunday, as the Bruins fell in a tough 6-3 match at the Scotford Tennis Center.

The Pirates were able to jump out to a 2-0 start in doubles play, but Spencer Watanabe and Chris Lilley gave the Bruins a much needed point at the No. 1 spot by taking down Drew Brigham and Drew Adams, 8-2.
George Fox turned the tables on the Pirates in single play, taking a 3-2 lead after winning the first two single matches. Watanabe beat Brigham 6-4, 6-2 at the No. 1 spot, and Lilley defeated Blake Miller 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 2 spot.
The Pirates responded at the third spot with a hard-nosed win over Nicholas Grafton, 6-3, 0-6, 6-3 to knot the dual match at 3-3.
The final leg of the single matches proved to show great effort from both sides, but the Pirates were able to take the No. 4 spot in straight sets, and Mitchell Miyahsiro fell at No. 5 Shane Sandlin, 7-5, 6-2.
Nike Ekern was impressive at the No. 6 spot for the Bruins, but fell in a close 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (12-10) match.
What Comes Next:
The Bruins will be on familiar ground next week when they host Lewis & Clark on Feb. 26 and Pacific Lutheran on Feb. 28.
