SANTA CRUZ, Calif. --- The George Fox men's tennis team opened their 2016 season on the road Friday afternoon, as the Bruins fell to No. 30 UC Santa Cruz, 7-2.

Vincent Viloria was the only Bruin to take a win in singles play at the No. 4 spot, beating Alexander Flora (6-4, 6-3). The rest of singles play was all Slugs, as they won the No. 1, 2, 3, 5, 6 spots in the lineup. Spencer Watanabe had a tough fight at the No. 1 spot, but fell (6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (10-8)).
The Bruins won the No. 1 spot in doubles play, as Chris Lilley and Watanabe showed their power when they play together, beating the #8 doubles team in the nation, Adrian Sirovica and Kyle Richter (8-6).

The Bruins will continue play tomorrow afternoon when they take on Sonoma State down in California at 12:00 p.m.
