McMINNVILLE, Ore. --- The Bruins concluded their regular-season schedule with a 9-0 drubbing of Linfield on Sunday, playing sharp tennis team-wide.

Though the Bruins, despite the big rivalry win, came up just short of a NWC tournament bid, head coach Neal Ninteman praised his team's showing on Sunday, especially top guns Spencer Watanabe and Chris Lilley. Ninteman called their yearlong performance a "stellar season."
Lilley and Watanabe have also earned a spot in the D-III West Regional Championships in Ojai, California.
They showed why on Sunday, taking the #1 doubles match with ease over Tim Hawkins and Trent Prussing, 8-1. Nicholas Grafton and Mitchell Miyashiro defeated Ben McNair and Liam Spearnak in the #2 doubles match, 8-3. In the #3 match, Vincent Viloria and Tristen Lerma overcame Jacob Mangan and Grant Barrow, also 8-3.
Watanabe blitzed McNair in the #1 singles match, 6-1, 6-0. Lilley triumphed over Prussing with similar aplomb in the #2 match, 6-3, 6-0.
Grafton beat Mangan in the #3 match, 6-2, 6-2. In the #4, Lerma defeated Carter Pentz, 6-4, 6-1.
Miyashiro swept aside Hawkins 6-1, 6-1 in the #5 match. And Nick Ekern completed the sweep with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Alec Wisthoff in the #6 match.
What It Means:
The Bruins finish 8-10 overall and an even 6-6 in conference, just missing a tournament bid.
What Comes Next:
Lilley and Watanabe will represent the Bruins at the Ojai tournament next weekend.
