NEWBERG, Ore. --- Chris Lilley and Spencer Watanabe led the Bruins in their match on Saturday against the Pirates of Whitworth, as the Bruins fell, 6-3.

Lilley and Watanabe got the Bruins off to a strong start in doubles play as the pair defeated Drew Brigham and Drew Adams, 8-5. The Pirates rallied and took down the Bruins at the No. 2 and 3 spot to take a 2-1 lead. Nicholas Grafton and Mitchell Miyashiro fought hard at the No. 2 spot in doubles, falling just shy with a 9-8 (9-7) score line.
The Bruins showed some guts at the No. 5 and 6 spots in singles with tough play by Miyashiro and Nick Ekern. Miyashiro battled hard with a 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 score, while Ekern pushed his match to three sets with a tough 7-6 (7-2), 5-7, 1-0 (10-2) loss. Watanabe put on a show with his dominance in a 6-3, 7-5 win, and Lilley echoed Watanabe with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-0 victory.
What It Means:
The Bruins now hold a 5-7 overall record and are 3-3 in the Northwest Conference.

The Bruins will be back in action on their home courts on Sunday, April 3 at 1:00 p.m. against Whitman.
