OJAI, Calif. --- The George Fox men's tennis team was represented in the West Regional Division III Championships on Friday, as Spencer Watanabe and Chris Lilley both competed in doubles and singles.

The pair not only advanced in doubles, but individually in singles as well. Watanabe, who was the #10-seed moved through the first day with a win over Redlands' Taylor Hunt, 7-6, 6-3. He becomes the first player in George Fox history to advance to the final 16 in singles in this prestigious championship.
Lilley had a win over California Lutherans' Chris Hartman earlier in the morning (6-3, 6-0) before falling to #5-seed Glenn Hull of Claremont-Mudd Scripps, 6-2, 6-2.
The pair teamed up in doubles and also set a new mark in the program's history with a win over Claremont-Mudd Scripps' Hull/Yeh, 8-5.
They will play on Saturday in the quarterfinal against Pomona-Pitzer's Gearou/Gearou. Watanabe will play in singles vs. Avinash Vemuri of CMS in the round of 16.
