Bruins Go To OT With Boxers

Box Score

FOREST GROVE, Ore. --- Extra time was needed for the Bruins and the Boxers, Saturday, as a thrilling match ended in favor of Pacific, 1-0.

Recap:
Despite a heavy-handed front by Pacific's offense in the first, the Bruins played the Boxers well. It was a physical match from the start, as both teams totaled 12 fouls before half. The Bruins best opportunity came in the 41st minute after Savanah Moisan separated herself from the Boxers' defense with a well-placed shot on goal.

Both teams went into the break scoreless, 0-0.

A string of fouls kicked off the second period, as both teams looked to set the tone in the final 45 minutes of play. The Boxers were able to get off eight shots during that time, but the Bruins' defense continued to frustrate the Boxers with each shot falling short.

The final whistle blew and both teams knew a golden goal would end the game. Bruins' goalkeeper Morgan Bars did well to keep the Bruins hopes alive, but a well-struck header from a corner kick slipped by, netting the game-winner.

Top Performers:
Caitlyn Connor and Savannah Moisan led the Bruins' offense with one shot apiece. Bars recorded five saves with just six shots on goal.

What It Means:
The Bruins fall to 1-4-1 overall and 1-1 in the Northwest Conference.

What Comes Next:
The Bruins will come back home on Sept. 24 with a game against Puget Sound at 12p.m.
