PORTLAND, Ore. --- The George Fox women's volleyball team went on the road Friday night, as the Bruins fell to the Pioneers of Lewis & Clark College, 3-0.

Recap:
The first set saw the two teams go back and forth trading points. Lewis and Clark began the set with two-straight points before the Bruins responded with three of their own after a block by Delaney Cruz and Amy Massingale. A kill by Erin Sprowls and a team block by Massingale and Sprowls gave the Bruins a 10-8 lead, but the Pioneers were able to bounce back with an 11-4 run to give them the lead, 19-14. The Bruins attempted to rally with kills from Cruz and Danyle Dupray, but the effort fell short and the Pioneers took set one 25-20.

Set two began with two-straight points by the Pioneers, leading to a 6-3 lead for Lewis and Clark. The Bruins stayed tough as kills from Sprowls and Sarah Davies fueled a 5-0 run to give George Fox a 7-6 advantage. The Bruins and Pioneers began trading points to a 13-13 tie, but once again it was the Pioneers who put together a run to distance themselves. Kills from Cruz, Davies and Massingale were enough to keep the Bruins within a couple, but a kill by Lewis and Clark sealed the set, 25-22.

In set three, the Pioneers came out firing, winning the first eight points. Kills from Davies and Dupray got the Bruins on the board, but weren't enough to build momentum. The Pioneers ran their lead to 16-7, and from then on the two teams traded points before Lewis and Clark finished the set to win, 25-10.

Top Performers:
Davies led the Bruins with eight kills, while Dupray and Massingale each added six kills apiece. Kelsea Meyers was strong defensively once again, racking up a team high 17 digs. Hanna Kumasaka led the Bruins with 16 assists.

What Comes Next:
The Bruins will return home to take on Pacific Lutheran Saturday night at 5 p.m.
