Box Score

By: Jake Bienvenue

NEWBERG, Ore. --- The George Fox women's soccer team took the home pitch Saturday against Puget Sound, losing a nail-biter to the conference-best Loggers, 1-0.

Recap:
The Bruins came out ready to play early, giving the visiting team a highly competitive first half. Neither team was able to get the advantage, as both defenses showed they were more than ready for the challenge. George Fox kept pace with the high-powered Logger offense through the first 45 minutes, narrowly losing the shot advantage 5-7, and holding the other team scoreless to enter the half all squared, 0-0.

The Loggers struck early in the second half with a header off a cross coming in the 47th minute. The Bruin offense played competitively through the remaining 45 minutes, but were unable to even the score against a Puget Sound defense that has only allowed two goals in three NWC games.

Top Performers:
Bruin goalkeeper Morgan Bars played a stellar game in the goal, tallying six saves through 90 minutes, many of which were acrobatic. Savannah Moisan led the team in shots with three, while Hannah Harder added two.

What's Next:
The Bruins take the field at home again Sunday in a NWC rivalry match-up against Linfield. Start time is set for 12p.m.
