NEWBERG, Ore. --- The No. 21-ranked George Fox women's basketball team hosted the Whitworth Pirates (7-10, 3-5 NWC) Saturday evening, cruising to a 23-point victory as five players scored in double figures.

Recap:
The Bruins jumped on the Pirates early, opening the game on a 10-0 run. Kaycee Creech, Kimberly Frost and Tavin Headings each recorded a steal in the opening minutes leading to layups for the Bruins.

The Pirates responded with an impressive run of their own, grabbing 13-12 lead over the Bruins. The persistence of Creech's aggressive play in the passing lanes helped the Bruins regain control of the game and Kaitlin Jamieson's strong play in the paint helped her team end the first quarter with a 22-15 lead.

The Bruins continued to build their lead in the second quarter. Bailey McDevitt and Tavin Headings each hit jumpers early to push the Bruin lead to nine, and Kylie Collman got in the action with a steal and a bucket. Frost added four quick points in the final minute and the Bruins took a 40-27 lead into the half.

Whitworth was doubled up in the third quarter as the Bruins outscored the Pirates 36-18, and relentless defense by the Bruins lead to 22 steals. Creech's three-point play pushed the Bruin lead to 20, and the lead was 31 points after a 26-3 run to end the quarter, 76-45.

George Fox went to their bench in the final minutes of the game and the Bruins took down the Pirates 90-67. 

Top Performers:
Creech and Jamieson each poured in 14 points apiece. Creech's six steals and Jamieson's 11 rebounds were both team-highs. Collman scored 12 points on 4-7 shooting to go along with five rebounds while Frost and Headings each added 10 points. Frost had a game-high seven assists as well. 11 Bruins totaled a steal in the game.  

What It Means:
The Bruins move to 14-2 on the season and 6-1 in NWC play. It was the third game this season in which the Bruins have scored 90 points or more.

What Comes Next:
The Bruins will return to action Sunday, Jan. 22, against Whitman. Tip is set for 2 p.m.
