Box Score PORTLAND, Ore. --- The George Fox women's soccer team finished its weekend up with another double overtime tie Sunday, as the Bruins and the Pioneers of Lewis & Clark College ended their game with a 1-1 draw.
Recap:
The first half was dominated by the Bruins, who out-shot the Pioneers 8-4 in the first 45 minutes. Lewis & Clark's Hannah Osmundson was up for the challenge, though, recording seven first half saves.
After a scoreless first half, the Bruins looked to mix things up in the second half. With an early opportunity on a corner kick, Allie Day delivered a perfect ball into the box. Madison Huesers was the first on it, heading the ball into the back post for the first goal of the game in the 48th minute.
It didn't take the Pioneers long to respond, as Caroline Hennes evened the score up in the 54th minute to force the 1-1 game.
The Bruins were in the driver seat for the rest of the half, recording five more shots before time ran out.
At the end of regulation, the Bruins held a 17-7 advantage on shots.
The Bruins had two more chances in the final two extra periods, but the Pioneers held on to force the tie with the Bruins.
Top Performers:
Huesers led the team with the lone goal, while Emma Logan, Cassie Wilson and Kayla Caldeira all recorded two shots on goal. Kelsey Kammerzell went the full 110 minutes for the Bruins, grabbing four saves.
What It Means:
The Bruins are now 4-3-2 on the season and 2-2-2 in the Northwest Conference.
What Comes Next:
The Bruins will hit the road next weekend with their first game against Pacific Lutheran Saturday, Oct. 7, at 12p.m.
