PORTLAND, Ore. --- The George Fox women's volleyball team found their form Wednesday night as they took down Lewis and Clark in three sets. 

Recap

The first set was the closest of the three despite the Bruins controlling much of the early action. Laney Search and Danyle Dupray helped the Bruins get out to a quick 4-1 advantage with kills, but the lead would soon be erased. After taking a 6-4 lead, the Pioneers countered and overtook the Bruins 11-7.

The Bruins were not deterred as they clawed their way back to tie the set at 12-12 behind the play of Dupray and Search. Winning at the point of attack, the Bruins built themselves a late 21-18 lead. A final push by the Pioneers gave them a 23-21 lead, but Paige O'Rear's first kill and three Lewis and Clark errors gave the Bruins the narrow victory in set one, 25-23. 

The second set was a bit less dramatic than the first. The Bruins raced out to a 7-2 lead as Alyssa Burch, Ashtyn Butler and Delaney Cruz made their presence felt. The Pioneers did their best, cutting the Bruin lead to two, 11-9, but the attack led by Burch, Butler and Cruz proved to be too much. Acarey Rosa put the final touches on a dominant set with an ace to give the Bruins set two, 25-15.

Again it was the Bruins who seized control early and never looked back. A quick 7-1 lead gave the Bruins the boost they needed to finish off the Pioneers, and Cruz and Search made sure the Bruins completed the sweep. The Bruins ended the set on an 8-3 run as O'Rear and Butler closed the door with the final two kills to give their team the 25-13 final set victory.

Top Performers 

O'Rear recorded a career-high six kills and one was of six Bruins with at least five kills. Butler led the way with nine kills while Dupray added seven kills and 10 digs. 

Ross led the way with a team-high 22 assists. 

What It Means

The Bruins improve to 5-7 overall and have won two straight over NWC opponents. 

What Comes Next

The Bruins return home Friday night to take on the Boxers of Pacific. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
