SPOKANE, Wash. --- The George Fox women's soccer team traveled to Washington on Saturday to take on the conference-best Whitworth Pirates, losing the tough matchup, 2-0.
Recap:
The Bruins came out aggressive as Jayli Miyamoto rattled off two shots against the opposition in the third and seventh minutes.
Whitworth managed to find the back of the net in the 20th minute to earn the early lead.
Brittany Bravo had a shot on-goal in the 28th minute in a close effort to tie the game, but the Bruins were unable to strike gold in the first half.
Miyamoto had a shot on-target early in the second half to set the pace for the Bruin offense.
The Pirates struck again in the 60th minute to widen the gap to 2-0.
Puka Ahina and Michala Denn had chances to score in the final 10 minutes but were unable to finish as the Bruins dropped a tough one on the road.
Top Performers:
Miyamoto led the offense in this one, tallying three shots. Kelsey Kammerzell served as an anchor on the defensive end, saving an impressive seven shots in the contest.
What It Means:
The Bruins move to 6-6-2 overall and 4-5-2 in conference play.
