Bruins Drop a Close One To Conference-Best Lutes

The George Fox women's soccer team hosted conference-best Pacific Lutheran on Saturday, dropping a close one, 1-0.

Recap:

The Bruins had a chance to score early as freshman forward Puka Ahina took a shot that was blocked, leading to a George Fox corner kick. Chloe Shumaker had a shot that narrowly missed the frame as the Bruins were unable to capitalize.

The Lutes rallied back, managing to score in the 10th minute and earn the early lead, 1-0.

The remainder of the first half saw both teams struggling to set up their offenses as the first 45 ran down, 1-0.

The Bruin defense set the tone in the second half, holding the Lutes scoreless on the back of a whopping five saves from Bruin keeper Annalisa Klein.

The home team was unable to score in the final stretch, losing a closely contested matchup, 1-0.

Top Performers:

Klein turned in a stellar performance in goal for the Bruins, tallying seven saves in the effort.

What It Means:

The Bruins move to 8-8-2 overall and 6-7-2 in conference play.

What Comes Next:

The Bruins host Willamette on Sunday in their last game of the season. Kickoff is set for 12:00pm.
