ORANGE, Calif. --- The No. 23 George Fox women's basketball team continued its road trip in California with a matchup against Chapman University, earning a solid 75-63 win.
Recap:
The Bruins came out of the gate on fire, going on an 11-1 run on the back of some hot shooting from beyond the arc.
Chapman responded by hitting a couple shots to set up its own offense, but George Fox was able to keep its momentum rolling, ending the first quarter with a 19-10 lead.
The second quarter opened in similar fashion as the Bruins were able to extend their lead, 28-12.
It was the starters that kept the Bruin offense rolling in the second quarter, combining for 17 of the team's 18 points. George Fox held a solid lead at half, 37-24.
An early run by Chapman at the beginning of the second half cut the Bruin lead to just five with six minutes left in the third quarter, but Haley Strowbridge rattled off five quick points to keep Chapman at bay.
Haylee Hutzler came in clutch for the Bruins in the fourth quarter, finding the back of the net twice from deep as well as the mid-range area. She scored 10 of the Bruins' 23 points in the period, going a perfect 3-3 from the field.
The Bruin offense was too much for Chapman in this one as they took a solid victory, 75-63.
Top Performers:
Hutzler led the Bruin offense in this one, scoring 17 points on 6-9 shooting from the field. Hailey Hartney chipped in 15 of her own while Strowbridge contributed 13 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals.
What It Means:
The Bruins move to 8-2 on the season, finishing a perfect 2-0 on the recent road trip.

The Bruins host Vancouver Island on December 31st in a matchup set for 4:00pm.
