Recap:

The Bruins found themselves down 11-2 in the opening minutes after a run by the visiting team. Fortunately, Emily Spencer was able to put four points up in short succession to cut into the Banana Slugs' lead and keep the game competitive.

The Bruins trailed 21-12 at the end of the first after a rocky start from the field.

The second quarter saw the Bruins come out far more competitive, cutting the lead down to just five with two minutes left in the half on the back of a balanced scoring effort.

The Bruins opened up the second half with a pair of threes from Spencer and Tavin Headings. Capitalizing on their momentum, George Fox came back from 10 points down to take a 41-39 lead with just over two minutes left in the third quarter.

Holding a narrow 44-42 lead, the Bruins came into the fourth quarter with a vengeance, rattling off nine points in the first three minutes to secure an eight-point lead.

The Bruin offense was clicking on all cylinders in the fourth as a number of players will able to contribute on the offensive end.

UC Santa Cruz was unable to get anything going against the staunch defense of the Bruins. George Fox outscored the Banana Slugs 21-7 in the fourth quarter steal a solid victory, 65-51.

Top Performers:

Spencer led the Bruins in scoring, tallying 11 points and a whopping five steals. Four players recorded eight points in this one: Headings, Kylin Collman, Haley Strowbridge and Emily Holder.

What It Means:

The Bruins move to 5-2 overall and remain a perfect 2-0 in conference play.
