NEWBERG, Ore. --- The George Fox men's tennis team closed out the Northwest Conference schedule against No. 14-ranked Whitman College in a 9-0 loss.

Despite the score, it was a competitive match from start to finish. The Bruins took on the top-ranked team in the NWC standings, with a tight match at No. 1 doubles. Spencer Watanabe and Alex Namba dropped the close match with a score of 8-6.
After dropping all three points in doubles, the Bruins had an uphill battle in singles. Watanabe went three sets with a tough loss to Zach Hewlin in a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 score. Alex Namba also had a close match at No. 2 singles with a 7-6, 7-6 defeat. Jacob Farmer also went three sets at No. 6 singles before falling 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (10-7).

The Bruins are now 9-8 on the season and 7-5 in the NWC.

The Bruins are the fourth seed in the NWC Tournament and will face Whitman in the opening round.
