TACOMA, Wash. --- The George Fox women's soccer team traveled to Washington on Sunday for a conference matchup against Puget Sound, losing the tightly-contested game, 2-1.
Recap:
The Loggers struck first in this one with a goal coming in just the fifth minute of play, giving the home team the early advantage.
A goal by Puget Sound just nine minutes later set the Loggers ahead even further, 2-0.
The Bruins went on the offensive around the 25-minute mark with a shot that was saved and another that hit the crossbar.
Two shots on goal for the Bruins in the 35th and 36th minutes weren't enough to narrow the deficit as the first half ended with the Loggers on top, 2-0.
The Bruins came into the second half with the same momentum they left off with –this time, however, they managed to capitalize.
Freshman forward Puka Ahina sent in a beautiful pass to senior Cassie Wilson who ripped the ball past the Puget Sound keeper from six yards out for the Bruin goal.
The Bruins held the Loggers scoreless through the second half but were unable to overcome the deficit, losing a close one, 2-1.
Top Performers:
Wilson led the offense with the only goal, but overall the Bruins had an impressive six players tally shots in this one.
Kelsey Kammerzell played well between the sticks, registering four saves for the Bruin defense.

The Bruins move to 3-2 on the season and 1-1 in conference play.
