NEWBERG, Ore. -- The George Fox women's soccer team has its next coach.
Brooke Alteneder, an alumna of the university who most recently served as the head coach of Corban University, will lead the Bruins in the 2026 season.
"I am beyond excited to be coming home to Newberg and George Fox," Alteneder said, "This community and school have been in my family for generations, and getting to lead a team that I played on is a huge blessing and answer to prayer. I can't wait to get started and walk with these players through integral parts of their lives, athletic careers, and individual walks with Jesus."
A native of Lafayette, Ore., Alteneder, then known as Brooke Jones, began her women's soccer career at Tualatin High School as one of the team's primary goalkeepers and qualified for the 6A OSAA State Playoffs on three separate occasions, helping lead the Timberwolves to the 2014 State Championship.
Following her high school career, the goalie then spent two years at GFU, setting several goalkeeping records in 20 games for the Bruins. Alteneder recorded five shutouts in her 20 career appearances, and is second in program history with a 0.59 goals against average (GAA) in over 1,500 minutes played. In addition, Alteneder holds the program record for save percentage with an 89% mark on 90 shots faced.
After two record-setting seasons in Newberg, Alteneder transferred to a Division I school in the University of Idaho, playing one season with the Vandals and earning a Big Sky All-Academic distinction.
Following her time in Moscow, Alteneder played professionally in Iceland for ÍA Akranes FC, where she was one of two Americans on the squad. She then played an additional season for Portuguese club Ovarense before returning stateside. Since her return to Oregon, Alteneder has served as the Athletic Director for Salem Academy Christian Schools, serving as the primary oversight of all athletic operations for both middle and high school teams offered by the Academy.
In March of 2025, Alteneder was named the head coach of Corban women's soccer. In her lone season with the Warriors, she defeated two NWC rivals in Lewis & Clark and Pacific Lutheran en route to a 5-12 record. Following the season, two of her athletes were named Honorable Mention All-Cascade Conference, and nine were named NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
"
Brooke Alteneder is a natural-born leader who stood out from the start as the ideal fit for Bruin Athletics," George Fox Athletic Director
Adam Puckett said, "Her vision for the program is clear, combining tactical excellence with a heart for discipleship and player development. She has a natural ability to inspire confidence in those around her, and I know our players, both current and future, will find her leadership transformative. We are thrilled to welcome Brooke to the family as we continue to build a culture of excellence in every sense of the word."
After graduating with a bachelor's degree in criminology with an emphasis on pre-law studies from the University of Idaho, Alteneder completed a master's degree in sports management from Southern New Hampshire University. She will serve as the fifth women's soccer coach in program history.
The George Fox women's soccer program has finished in the top three in the Northwest Conference in two of the past five seasons and boasts two All-Americans and five All-Region players in its history.
