NEWBERG, Ore. --- The No. 15-ranked George Fox women's basketball team hosted Lewis & Clark in a Northwest Conference matchup Friday night, winning handily, 81-58.

Recap:

A competitive first quarter saw a host of Bruins find their way into the scoring column. George Fox held a narrow lead at the end of the period, 18-16.

Haylee Hutzler got it going for the Bruins in the second quarter, tallying a quick five points to extend the lead to seven for the home team. Emily Holder got hot as well, racking up seven points to help George Fox to a 42-31 lead heading into the break.

The Bruins got hot early in the second half, going on a 9-2 run to widen the gap between the conference opponents. Haley Strowbridge rattled off seven points at the end of third quarter to keep it going in front of the home fans.

The final period was not enough for Lewis & Clark to get back in the game as George Fox was able to coast through much of the fourth quarter, winning handily, 81-58.

Top Performers:

Kaitlin Jamieson paced the Bruins in scoring with 17 points to go along with eight rebounds. Tavin Headings found her way into double-digits as well, finishing with 10 points.

What It Means:

The Bruins move to 21-3 overall and 14-1 in conference play, also managing to push their win streak to 10 straight. With Whitman dropping its game against Willamette tonight, the Bruins clinched the No. 1 seed for the Northwest Conference Tournament. With a win Saturday night against Pacific, the Bruins will become the outright NWC Champions.

The Bruins host Pacific (Ore.) Saturday for the last regular season game of the year. Tipoff is set for 4:00 pm.
