Bruins Close Out Weekend Perfect In NWC Play

TACOMA, Wash. --- The George Fox men's tennis team continued its strong start to the 2018 season, as the Bruins blanked the Loggers Sunday, 9-0.

Recap:

The Bruins wasted no time getting the party started in doubles, as Justin Barton and Jonah Wafula made quick work at the No. 3 spot. Barton and Wafula opened up the match with an 8-0 victory, while the Namba brothers of Alex and Payton won their match at No. 2 doubles, 8-2. Spencer Watanabe and William Leach were tested at the No. 1 spot, but came out on top with an 8-6 victory to give the Bruins a 3-0 lead.

In singles play, the Bruins were near perfect on the day. A. Namba, Wafula and Keaten Baker won at No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 singles in a 6-0, 6-0 fashion, respectively. Watanabe closed out No. 1 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 win, while Leach dominated the No. 2 spot with a 6-1, 6-0 victory. P. Namba shut down the match at No. 4 with a 6-0, 6-2 win.

What It Means:

The Bruins are now 4-0 on the season and 2-0 in the Northwest Conference.

What Comes Next:

The Bruins will be tested next week, as they welcome Whitman and Whitworth March 10-11 at home.
